Finally I have completed my resume. I looked through so many websites of how to write the best resumes especially for journalism students.
With the competition, ‘make yours stand out from the rest’… blah blah blah.
I just typed into the infamous Google, ‘How to write a journalism resume’.
Some of the websites that came up were actually quite useful. I though I might just write down my experience and education…all the basics. I have never had to write a resume for journalism, it has always been for part-time jobs while doing university.
I wrote the resume how i knew how, and used the websites I found to categorise my experience into sections.
This really helped to improve it. Most of the websites I found were ‘Things that doom a journalism students resume‘, and ‘Writing a successful resume‘.
They also advised me to include sections like specialised skills, which was helpful because I know how to use a lot of industry based softwares. I learnt things like final cut pro, Audacity, word press and photoshop from using it in my degree.
It’s weird how much you actually know and the experience you have gained just in couple of years, just by taking every opportunity offered to you.
